If you feel you have what it takes to be one of our Patrol Leaders or would like to find out more about becoming a Patrol Captain or Patrol Vice-Captain, read on.
The Patrol Captain is responsible for the functioning and safety of all members on their patrol and the safety of the general public. Generally the Patrol Captain’s job is an easy one, only having to provide guidance to already trained members so that the requirements of the patrol are met.
In the event of a rescue or other emergency, the Patrol Captain must be able to effectively manage their members and members of the public. The decisions that they may have to make can be life altering. It’s important that the Patrol Captain knows what their role is and how to perform it.
The Patrol Captain is a role model that members look up to, someone who can provide guidance, training and more often than not, have a big part to play in moulding younger or less experienced lifesavers into great lifesavers. Caves Beach S.L.S.C is committed to producing the best lifesavers on our coast. As a result we are always looking for enthusiastic people to take on the leadership role of Patrol Captain.
The role of Patrol Captain is a rewarding one & we offer a mentor program for patrol captains.
To hold the position of Patrol Captain at Caves beach S.L.S.C you must be:
- A minimum of 17 years of age
- Hold a current SLSA Bronze Medallion
- Hold or be prepared to complete the SLSA Silver Medallion (Basic Beach Management)
