Awards and Pointscore System

SLSA Education Awards – All Age Groups U6 to U13

An SLSA Education Certificate is provided to all children who have attended and participated in 50% or more of our club days.

Note – U14 members need to partake in their Surf Rescue Qualification in their final year of nippers.

Under 6 and Under 7 children are not involved in point score days. Their participation is on a surf education and activities basis only.

Children participating at a carnival representing Caves Beach or Hunter Branch will be deemed to be in attendance for that club day. Point Scores – U8’s to U/14’s

Point scores

A point score system will run on nominated point score days. Points will be awarded to children for completing an event and also 1st through to 6th will receive points on a descending scale.

These point score days are generally held on two weeks prior to carnivals and will be used to assist with team selections for the upcoming carnival as per our selection guidelines.

Attendance

5 bonus points will be awarded to those children that have attended and participated in 50% or more of our club days.

At the completion of the season points will be tallied and point score placing’s decided for each age group.

Trophies Criteria

Junior Volunteer of The Year - Club Person

This award recognises and rewards a junior member who has made a significant contribution to the Caves Beach Surf Lifesaving club. The winner of this award must be a good club person who has assisted in some measure in any aspect in running the club, this club person must show commitment in all areas of the club including junior programs, education opportunities, and competition training.

The Junior Management Committee is to make their selection from the U14 age group then if unable to find a person it goes down to the next age group. The selection must be endorsed by the Executive, this award will be presented at both the Junior and Senior Presentations.

Junior Life Saver of The Year 

This award recognises a Male and Female U14 member who:

  • Contributes to Surf Life Saving both with Caves Beach SLSC, HSLS and SLSNSW
  • Promotes of Surf Lifesaving to the community
  • Is an active leader within the club
  • Demonstrates Surf lifesaving knowledge and skills

The recipients of this award will go onto represent the club in the HSLS Junior Life Saver of the Year program. 

The selection must be endorsed by the Executive, this award will be presented at both the Junior and Senior Presentations.

Presidents Shield (Girl)

The winner of this trophy can be selected from any age group and is a girl who is a good club person, a good sportswoman and who has attended and competed at most club days, training and carnivals. Selected by the Junior Management Committee and the be approved by the Executive

Dot Campbell Shield (Boys)

The winner of this trophy can be selected from any age group and is a boy who is a good club person, a good sportsman and who has attended and competed at most club days, training and carnivals. Selected by the Junior Management Committee and the be approved by the Executive

Junior Beach Competitor

Junior Beach Champion granted to the highest point score tally in U11`s and U12`s based on individual age groups beach sprint, beach flags point score events.

Senior Beach Competitor

Senior Beach Champion granted to the highest point score tally in U13`s and U14`s based on individual age groups beach sprint, beach flags point score events.

Junior Water Competitor

Junior Water Champion granted to the highest point score tally in U11`s and U12`s based on individual age groups swim, board, and ironperson point score events.

Senior Water Competitor

Senior Water Champion granted to the highest point score tally in U13`s and U14`s based on individual age groups swim, board, and ironperson point score events.

Age Point Score Champion

Are awarded to the top three-point scorers for both males and females in each age group.

Encouragement Award

One male and female from each age group to be nominated by their Age Supervisors. These children cannot be the recipient of an Age Point score Champion Award

U14 Awards

These are awarded to all U14`s who are leaving the Junior Activities; they must have been a member for at least 3 years to qualify and completed 50% of club days and their SRC.
