Nippers News

With the festive season fast approaching we are aware that everyone is very busy.

The following email contains important information regarding what's happening for the nippers section leading in to the holiday season.

Please read all information carefully and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us or come and have a chat to us on Sunday.

Our first point score is Sunday the 24th November, this is for Under 8 - Under 14 age groups, under 6's and 7's will be nippers as usual.

This is conducted under carnival conditions and in accordance with the current surf sports manual.

Please remember this is for your kids to experience and utilise their surf skills in a friendly competition environment. 

Please be aware that all decisions made by any official or age manager is final and no discussions will be entered in to.

All ocean proficiencies will need to be completed by Sunday the 8th of December.

To complete the ocean proficiency, the pool proficiency must be done first.

Age Managers will have a list of nippers still needing to complete their proficiencies and will speak with those parents on Sunday.

Proficiencies can only be conducted by qualified assessors, proficiencies are only to be arranged by our qualified assessors, age managers can not conduct proficiencies. 

These swims must be unassisted or the child will be marked not yet competent. 

Please remember that if you are not competition proficient by the 8th December you will not be able to enter in any carnivals for the remainder of the season. This includes Branch and State.

Entries for the Fingal carnival on the 14th December are open online. Registrations will close the 6th December.

Please remember that you must pay an entry fee for your child to compete at a carnival.

If you miss the club cut off and your child wishes to compete you must register on the morning of the carnival before competing. There will be a late registration fee that will need to be paid that day to be eligible to compete.

Entries for the Catherine Hill Bay carnival on the 11th January are open on the website.

Closing date for registrations is 3rd January.

Club Christmas party is on Sunday 15th December from 12pm.

This will be the last day of nippers for 2019 also.

Nippers will resume Sunday 12th January 2020.

Please be aware that after the Fingal carnival,

Children that attend board training will need to have hired a board from the club or purchased their own. The board trailer will no longer be taken to board training. 

Friendly reminder those permitted to do flat water training at Naru are competition proficient members from U8 up. (Under 8 must have completed the U9 pool and ocean proficiency)

For any board/swim training at the beach it is only competition proficient children from Under 9's up.

Under 8 and below are not permitted to train at the beach. 

Our Junior Life saver of the Year/ Junior Club Captain interviews will be held on Sunday 1st December. We wish all our Under 14 members good luck with their interviews and we look forward to announcing our Junior Club Captains to you all on Sunday 15th December.
