Juniors Proficiency Information 2026-27

All Nippers must complete the annual preliminary skills evaluation as part of their Nippers registration.  The evaluation ensures a minimum and safe standard of swimming and survival ability for water activities at Nippers and is a pre-requisite for nippers to be part of the program. 

All carnival competitors regardless of whether they are in the water or on the beach need to complete their Competition Water Proficiency.

Proficiency requirements are set by Surf Life Saving and are standard across all surf clubs. The 26/27 requirements can be found using the following link:

Junior Preliminary Evaluation Form 

Under 6's and Under 7's are not required to attend the pool or beach skills evaluation. Their evaluations will be completed in the first few of weeks at nippers.

 

Our Preliminary Skills Evaluations (pool) for our Under 8's - Under 13's will be held on:

Saturday the 19th September 2026 at Charlestown Swim Centre.  

Saturday 26th September 2026 at Charlestown Swim Centre.

Sunday 27th September 2026 at Charlestown Swim Centre

Preliminary Skill Evaluations for all dates will be at 10am.

 

 

For nippers wishing to attend carnivals or board training, there is also a competition evaluation that they will need to complete. These will be completed during Sundays at Nippers when surf conditions are deemed appropriate by the Committee and Assessors. 

 

*Under 14’s who have their SRC aren’t required to attend this proficiency evaluation. They will participate in the senior proficiencies. Under 13’s or 14’s undertaking their SRC are welcome to do their timed swim on one of these days.
