Caves Beach Surf Life Saving Club is seeking energetic and reliable Casual Bar Staff to join our team for the 2026/27 Summer Season.

Whether you're an experienced bartender or looking to gain valuable hospitality experience, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Serving drinks and providing exceptional customer service
  • Operating the bar and POS system
  • Maintaining a clean and professional venue
  • Supporting club events and functions
  • Ensuring RSA compliance and safe service practices

What We're Looking For

✅ Current NSW RSA Certificate
✅ Friendly and professional attitude
✅ Strong communication skills
✅ Availability across weekends, evenings, and public holidays
✅ Team player with a positive work ethic

✅ Must be 18 years or above to apply

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Previous bar or hospitality experience
  • First Aid qualifications
  • Surf Life Saving Club experience

Casual Bar Staff – Summer Season 2026/2027

Location: Caves Beach Bar, Caves Beach Surf Life Saving Club
Employment Type: Casual
Reporting To: Bar Manager / Club Management Committee
Award: Registered and Licensed Clubs Award 2020 (or applicable award)
Period: September 2026 – April 2027

About Us

Caves Beach Surf Life Saving Club is a community-focused organisation located on the beautiful Lake Macquarie coastline. The Caves Beach Bar provides a welcoming environment for members, guests, and visitors, offering excellent customer service while supporting the operations of the Surf Life Saving Club.

We are seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and customer-focused Casual Bar Staff to join our team for the busy 2026/27 Summer Season.

Position Purpose

To deliver exceptional customer service in a safe, professional, and friendly environment while ensuring responsible service of alcohol, maintaining cleanliness standards, and supporting the efficient operation of the bar and club facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Provide friendly, professional, and efficient service to patrons.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Maintain a welcoming atmosphere for members and visitors.
  • Handle customer enquiries and resolve minor issues promptly and professionally.

Bar Operations

  • Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems and process transactions accurately.
  • Replenish stock and assist with stock rotation.
  • Set up and pack down bar service areas.
  • Monitor stock levels and notify supervisors of shortages.

Compliance

  • Comply with NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) requirements.
  • Verify proof of age and prevent service to intoxicated patrons.
  • Follow club policies, procedures, and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for patrons and staff.

Housekeeping

  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the bar, cool rooms, and service areas.
  • Clean glassware and equipment.
  • Ensure tables and customer areas remain tidy and presentable.

Teamwork

  • Work collaboratively with fellow bar staff, volunteers, and club members.
  • Assist during special events, functions, and club activities.
  • Support a positive team culture aligned with the values of Surf Life Saving.

Essential Criteria

  • Current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) competency card.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional presentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous hospitality or bar experience.
  • Experience operating POS systems.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Surf Life Saving Club membership or community club experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move stock safely.
  • Ability to work in a busy hospitality environment.
